With a new year, there are always new year’s resolutions. One resolution is probably on top of everyone’s list: Be more active and get in shape! Most of the time, however, the motivation doesn't last long and then you're stuck with a stupid year-long contract at the gym and are paying unnecessarily. To avoid this happening to you, you can simply bring the gym to your own home. I'll show you how it’s a lot more practical, how it can look, what budget you need and why your motivation will last way longer that way!
Bringing the gym into your home has one very definite advantage: It's insanely practical! If you already have everything at home, you don't have to travel long distances to the gym and you won't make up excuses why you don't want to go. Excuses like: I won’t go because it's raining or too cold. I won’t find a good parking space, the studio isn't on the way, and so on and so forth. But if you already have everything ready for a workout in your own four walls, you not only avoid making excuses, but also save important time that you would already lose for the commute. Besides, you can train in a very flexible way: With training equipment at hand, you don't have to worry about peak times, but can even use your lunch break when working at home. This not only has a positive effect on your overall daily planning, but also gives you more time for other hobbies. Of course, you always have to check if there is enough space in your home for sports and whether it is even possible for you. But if so, you've come to the right place! But what can a home gym look like? What equipment do I need and how much budget do I have to plan for?
It's actually quite simple: You simply have to adapt to your needs and workout plan. For example, you just want to get fitter and increase your cardio? Then cardio equipment such as a bicycle roller, hula hoops, a stepper or a swing stick are a good fit for you. Here you can limit yourself to your favourite equipment and get a great cardio area for your home for less than 100 euros. Or are you more interested in building muscle? Then you should go for strength equipment. In this case, a pull-up bar, ab trainer, push-up grips or sit-up bench could be the right things. It's best to put together a varied set so that you can work all muscle groups. Here, too, you don't need to spend more than 150 euros and should, of course, consider beforehand how intensively you will use which product. In addition to cardio and strength training, you may of course prefer to work on your balance, become more flexible, or try your hand at yoga and Pilates. Then you should definitely start with a non-slip yoga mat. With a yoga block, a Pilates ring and a balance board you are perfectly prepared. And you can get all that for less than 60 euros! So just be clear what your exercise needs and goals are and set up your home gym accordingly. Of course, you can also take something from each area and build up a broadly mixed gym. Decide for yourself without making things complicated.
