Picnic Essentials

Let's go for a picnic

  • Catering: The most important part of any picnic is, of course, the food. When it comes to snacks and drinks, you should make sure that they are easy to transport and consume. If it's very warm, it's a good idea to pack a cool bag and cold packs to keep everything fresh. If you don't have a cold pack, you can also fill a bottle one-third full with water, store it in the freezer and use it as a coolant during the picnic. You also need cutlery and crockery for an outdoor meal. Bamboo disposables are best for this. You should transport all your goodies in a picnic basket that offers sufficient storage space and in which everything finds an optimal place.
  • Ambience: Of course, you don't have to drag camping chairs and tables into the park to sit comfortably. But it’s nice to sit peacefully in nature and to enjoy your time. So you can pack a waterproof picnic blanket that will keep you dry at all times, even on damp ground. With cushions and LED candles you can make it even cosier for everyone. Unlike real candles, LED candles are not a fire hazard but guarantee a romantic atmosphere. If the trip is to last a little longer, remember to bring a jacket or hat for later in the evening.
  • Entertainment: To make sure that the picnic is not boring, the right entertainment is essential. Viking chess, boules or outdoor tic-tac-toe are sure to keep you amused. But a music box or simple card games can also brighten up the afternoon in the park for you and your friends.
  • Important little details: Outdoors, you tend to sit on uneven ground and risk having snacks and drinks fall over all the time. If you take a serving tray or bed tray with you, this will certainly never happen again. A corkscrew or bottle opener for your favourite drinks is also essential. Mosquito repellent and sunscreen also make for more pleasant hours outdoors. For the final clean-up and for small mishaps, you should think of rubbish bags, napkins and wet wipes. The bin liners are also a great way to transport your used dishes home to wash them.
  • Other things: When looking for the perfect picnic location, make sure it's easy to reach by bike or public transport, has enough space for everyone and their bikes and - most importantly - that it's a beautiful spot. You can have a great picnic by a lake, in a park or in a forest clearing. For a romantic picnic date you don't even have to go far away, but you can surprise your partner on the balcony or in the garden. You should also check the weather beforehand so that there are no unpleasant surprises.
