What you can do with marble and marble-look decor

We all know marble from the Mediterranean region or from Tuscany, as that is where it is used the most. In ancient times it stood for splendour and wealth, in the more recent past it was seen as a boastful status symbol. We’ve known for a while that this valuable stone helps create an elegant and modern interior. Marble is a great way to add a touch of luxury to your home and will win the hearts of all interior design fans thanks to its cool tones and smooth natural look. You can get it in any colour imaginable: classic white, masculine black or even vibrant green or pink. Marble gives your home that little something extra and can be used almost anywhere. Since time immemorial, large spas or bathing facilities have been built from the solid stone and you too can embellish your bathroom with marble. Bring some extravagance to your personal spa area, by adding small decor pieces or bathroom accessories in marble. You can also make a statement in your kitchen, living room or hallway by using jewellery stands, clothes racks, coffee tables, lamps or servings trolleys partially made of marble. Kitchen accessories such as a pestle and mortar are just as sophisticated and can be used to express your individuality in the kitchen. In addition, marble is also great for outdoor areas as it is durable and frost-resistant. But it doesn’t always have to be the original. Elegant imitation pieces are a cheaper alternative and will impress both you are your guests just as much as the genuine article. The unique marbling of the stone always gives a sense of individuality and adds a bit of something special to any room where marble or marble-look materials are used. However, you should be careful to use stylish and eye-catching pieces that add value to your home interior. Try to refrain from overdoing it with luxury. With the right balance you can capture that timeless elegance that makes you want to linger a while but at the same time turns heads.

How you can use marble

If you choose to use marble accessories as striking accents in your home, you can pair the wonderful natural stone with numerous colours and materials. For a cosy and inviting atmosphere, try wood and marble. Pairing the stone - especially in white - with light wood tones, will make you feel at home and provide the necessary warmth. This means marble elements can be incorporated wonderfully into a Scandinavian style interior. Another great combo is marble and metal; it doesn’t matter how it’s done. Add marble accessories to black metal furniture to create contrasting highlights or use shiny tones like gold, copper and brass to ramp up the luxurious feeling within your four walls. This is another example of marble paired with warm-toned counterparts. If we’re talking about colours, you could says that marble and delicate pastel colours are a dream combination. The unobtrusive colours gently meld with the cold rock and soften it. You’ll also note another wonderful contrast here: the simple nature of the pastel shades meets the strong and elegant nature of the marble. Another suitable colour would be a rich plant green.
