Flange Tool for Aluminium & Copper Pipes
To use the flaring tool, first make sure that the pipe end is cut at right angles to the pipe axis and deburred with a pipe deburrer. Then slide the flare nut over the pipe and insert the pipe end into the clamp from below. It should protrude approx. 3 mm from the clamp. Tighten the clamp firmly: if you feel resistance, tighten another half turn. Now apply a drop of oil to the flaring cone and position the flaring tool over the clamp. The undercuts on the flaring tool must engage with the underside of the clamp. The flaring tool must now be centred over the end of the pipe. Then turn the handle onto the pipe end until the flaring cone touches it. Carry out the specified number of half-turns (6 - 8 mm: 4 half-turns, 10 - 12 mm: 5 half-turns, 14 - 16 mm: 6 half-turns). Finally, screw the flaring cone back in, separate the flaring tool from the clamp and loosen the flared tube.
