A home bar is the perfect place to sit with friends, drink a glass of wine or a cocktail and enjoy the evening if you don’t feel like going out. To set up your own bar, there are a few things you should think about. Here you’ll find best furniture as well as a few important tips and tricks for you.

The basics of bar furnishing

If you want to get a real bar feeling with a counter and stools, you’ll need to plan more space for it. A tall bar counter looks very cool in the open kitchens, terraces or lounges. You can take a role of a bartender and put on a little show serving the drinks, or participate in conversations during the preparations. Make sure you have enough storage space for glasses and bottles and that the bar is high enough so you can stand comfortably. With the practical bar stools, you can have a bar atmosphere right at home.

The right style for your bar

When choosing a style, you should decide whether you want the bar to be modern and minimalist or rustic and cosy. Once you have settled on a look, you can choose matching furniture and decorations. If you want to design your house bar in a minimalist style, you should pay particular attention to functionality. Choose furniture in clear shapes and uni-coloured designs. For the decoration, you can choose metal accessories that make the room look modern. Relaxdays offers wine racks and bottle holders made of metal that radiate an elegant flair. With a wine rack in the living area, your favourite bottle is always at hand. If you opt for a more rustic style, then you should focus primarily on natural materials such as wood and stone. Bamboo wine racks are a real eye-catcher and harmonise perfectly with the industrial bar stools. A wooden-look serving trolley also fits perfectly into the image of a rustic bar and also gives you even more storage space.

The right storage makes the difference

The home bar looks really cool when you display not only glasses and decorations, but also fancy bottles. However, be aware that most wines and spirits should be stored in a cool place. For wine in particular, high temperatures ensure faster ripening, so it is better not to place the wine rack in the room where the temperature regularly exceeds 25°C or if the fireplace heats up strongly in winter. Optimal temperatures for alcohol are between 7 and 18°C. Wine should also not be exposed to sunlight. Wines sealed with corks should be stored horizontally. If you want to store your fine wines in the kitchen, small racks such as the wine pyramid are ideal for storing up to 5 bottles. Stronger spirits such as rum, gin or whisky are best stored unopened upright, if possible in a dark and cool place. Once opened, bottles should be stored in a cool place. Liqueurs should always be kept in a cool, dark place. No matter which style and which cocktail equipment you choose, it is important that the furnishings are functional and that you enjoy preparing and enjoying your drinks. If you follow our tips, you are sure to create a great home bar that will impress your guests.
